The difference is that BA pays for South Fast Track, HAL offers North Fast Track some of the time.

If in doubt South is generally best, particularly on Fridays and in the mornings. Overall South has less congestion across the board not having the Flight Connections traffic (yet!) going into it. But it's not hard and fast, the little white man symbols in the overhead displays are rarely accurate and it's just a lottery as to which is best.
