Reserved seats removed in error
Hi folks, I was wondering on how to proceed in the following:
In April this year I booked west coast USA flights(out to vegas return from LAX)in the WT+ cabin for travel at the end of this month. At the time of booking I also paid to reserve seats (£148 for 2 seats both ways) choosing window pair seats as mrs injom isn't the best traveller and prefers these seats. All seats were confirmed.
Last week I phoned to enquire about the cost of upgrading to CW however declined as the cost was much more than expected (quoted £5k each), following this in MMB the seats we had paid to reserve disappeared from the booking and for nearly a week the booking was showing double flights (one set in WT+ and one in CW) I phoned BA and they said not to worry as it was just a glitch in the booking system and to check in a few days.
This morning I checked MMB to see that it was back to normal however our paid for seats were no longer there and the seat map was showing no window pairs available.
I have spent 75 minutes on the phone to BA this morning to try to sort it out at first the agent was non helpful and just kept saying there has been equipment change that's why you no longer have the seats. Once I pointed out that this was not the case, he then investigated and then explained that in actual fact during the upgrade enquiry the BA agent cancelled our seat reservation by mistake.
However even though we reserved the seats in April, other customers reserved them last week (after the error by the BA staff) and all he could do was offer us seats in the same row in positions E and F.
Eventually after explaining that I had reserved these seats at the time of booking as mrs injom is very anxious flyer and E and F really were not suitable the best solution that was offered was separate seats 13a and 14b, and to ask the pax in 14a or 13b to move when we board.
I'm not sure the best way to proceed in this matter nor how happy the other pax will be when asked to move (do I ask them, do I ask cabin crew to do it??)
Any advice would be welcome!!!
