I don't think I've ever had a VDB with AS, but I don't seek them out most of the time. I have taken a couple with AA, one of which worked out very nicely.
But, those stats look at the rate of IDB (involuntary denied boardings). If you look at the rate of voluntary bumps, AA is much higher. AA had 14x as many voluntary bumps, but only carried about 4x as many passengers as AS.
