Also, the first, Grand Hotel Spokane, is going to be connected to the convention center. You'd think it would be a Marriott or a Renaissance rather than an Autograph Collection especially since it's a new build.

I think the Autograph Collection gives the husband and wife who currently own all four properties (including the one being built) the flexibility to better market the properties (Marriott expertise) while still being somewhat independent.
They were looking for brand opportunities and I think the Marriott AC niche is a good one for them (and for Marriott).
