at Walmart today, I first asked to purchase $1000 money order so total is $1000.70. I said I am going to pay with 2 $500 debit cards. However, that person did not know how to split (or spllit payment is not allowed), the first $500 payment was rejected.

Then I had to buy 2 money orders, each 499.30, plus 0.70 fee, $500 exactly.

This is my first time to buy MO, not sure if I can do a better job in some way.
any suggestions?

I asked USPS store and was told $500 MO costs $1.25 and above $500 MO costs $1.65. So even buy $499.30 money order WM is still cheaper.
