I'm flying JFK-PHX tonight and just noticed that there is not a meal served in business class. It's an 8:30pm departure out of JFK but according to the DL.com web site flights greater than 1500 miles departing between 5am and 9pm have meal service. But this flight is listed as only refreshments which I confirmed through DLAssist this afternoon.
Delta.com lists this flight as
Complimentary Refreshments, not
Refreshments.
Complimentary Refreshments does mean a meal, but with only one choice and generally either a hot turkey or pastrami sandwich. This terminology has been used for exception flights prior to the introduction of the new meal guidelines, including but not limited those to/from Alaska, Hawaii, or the Caribbean/Latin America, between ATL and NYC, or red-eye transcontinental flights from SFO, LAX, SEA. You'll now find it used on all flights that now receive a meal after 8 PM as well.
Refreshments, on the other hand, does mean the snack basket.
