The AE booking engine is terrible.

If you can find availability for all of the flights that you'd like when you search for them individually, then call in and spoon feed each segment to the agent. If they aren't being helpful, hang up and call back.

YOW-USA-ATH-return or even YOW-USA-Europe-ATH-return should be well within the allowed mileage for this award.
