Agreed. Going from 1MM to 2MM is a huge jump for the now lessened advantage of platinum over gold. Not much extra RDMs (9X over 8X), upgrades are still hard to get at platinum depending upon route. 2 RPUs per year is OK, but nothing outrageous unless you're only flying a few times. I guess the biggest thing could be the reduced award fee cancellation charges compared to Gold. Otherwise, best to stop at 1MM and get to 1MM on AA or DL.

Although, my guess is that UA reduces Gold's benefits even more. I could see them dropping intl lounge access or 3 free bags. AA hit Gold's with reduced bag privileges. Why not UA too I guess.
