Did you know you can usually get on a TGV without a reservation? If the conductor nails you the fine maxes out at 20 Euros which they charge you on board and includes the "reservation."
You might end up siting in the bar car which is actually better than the regular seats.
Yep, knew that. But, after a long day involving three flights and carrying two suitcases each (one with a bike inside), it's kinda nice to have an assigned seat and be close to all your stuff. I'm willing to pay a few $$$ for peace of mind. Scam or not.
