I would expect that the property (the only entity that can actually do anything at this point) is quite likely to be reasonable under the circumstances; however, it's necessary to ask them directly (and politely). If you'd like to change it to a later stay, I think it even more likely they'll cooperate in some fashion (e.g. a hotel credit for all or most of the pre-paid amount).
