With the DL Silver, I've been allowed to chose 35H/35J exit seats on the 747 DTW segments. Would CI give me better than that w/o paying?

Do I really need to have my CI status on the BP to get into the lounge? Wouldn't just presenting the CI card be sufficient (that's what I do on *A and OW).
