OP Update - finally got an Amazon rep on the phone. After a couple of missteps, they were able to process my return and UPS picked up the television today. I didn't pay for the return shipping, and Amazon assured me that the shipping fee will not be deducted from my refund.

Silver lining - I found the same Sony TV at my local store over the weekend for $100 less.
