So for example if you are flying to Germany and AB is avail, book it as ORD-TXL-FRA. If US PHL-FRA becomes avail, then changing to ORD-PHL-FRA does not cost anything.
AB seat is not that great. Although US product is older, I think it would still be on par.
So you wouldn't recommend changing to AB or IB if it becomes available over US Air? I'm hoping Iberia nonstop ORD to MAD becomes available just so the kids don't have to worry about a connection and there's no change fees, but I've heard mixed things about US Airs product compared to AB and IB.
