Not true. The paper ticket I got for a trip down under last March was not printed on carbon paper. Instead, it was issued on paper very similar to regular boarding passes but with a much more elaborate background to make forging harder.

I don't think I've had a paper anything-except-a-boarding-pass in about 10 years.
I'll see if I can find one. I think I took a photo of all the coupons as I thought it was a rather rare occurrence.
