AENA says there's nothing to see here... in their opinion, this is a brouhaha kicked up by spotters and people who do not understand telephoto foreshortening. They are emphatic there was never any danger because -wait for it- the planes had all of a kilometer of separation (that is, some 15 seconds at landing speeds).

Spanish ATC is a disgrace - not just for screwing up, but for covering up their screw ups with teenage-worthy antics.
