KL 737-700s to get 10 extra seats

In a drive to increase productivity, KL plan to reconfigure the forward galleys in all 737-700s so they can squeeze in 10 more seats (1⅔ extra row? How will that work?). Other measures include reducing the number of CAs on TLV flights by one, and abolishing mail pigeonholes for cabin crew. Guess the latter proves that they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to cut costs. Total savings are estimated a €4-4.5m per annum.

The above measures do not need union approval, and can therefore be imposed by KL. Two out of three unions have also agreed to lower salaries for new CAs, which will yield savings of €28-30m per annum by 2040. If the third union does not yield, KL can still move all shorthaul flights to KLC.

Source (in Dutch).

Edited to add that I just read here that the third union has now also agreed to the deal, albeit under protest.
