To be honest, I've never seen value in Club Europe and still do not. Personally, even £80 each way as an upgrade fee is too much for the very limited increases in space, service and catering.

I suspect BA would have canned Club Europe a long time ago if it weren't for perceived losses in connecting premium transatlantic/longhaul custom, who can live with an hour or two connecting in "business class" but would refuse to do the same in "economy class". As a result, BA's product is essentially a bare-bones reflection of minimum business class expectations.
