I'm looking into booking an award with a segment only flown by IB, but I don't want to pay fuel surcharges on the overseas portion. Should I book this as two awards to avoid additional surcharges, or is a single award going to only put surcharges on the IB portion.

I know taxes will get charged on all of it, but I don't think that's quite as much of a concern.
