- we are flying coach, and are both SkyTeam Elite Plus. So will have access to any SkyTeam associated lounge.

I quite like the Tanzanite lounge (comfortable chairs, a modest selection of hot and cold snacks, and not too crowded at the times I've been there). It's downstairs from the main departures level (straight down the stairs in front of you if you come through the glass door from international transit).

However, it seems DAR isn't really geared up for transit passengers (even on published connections, such as KL4179-KL567/569/571). For example, the Tanzanite lounge staff generally expect pax to have invitation cards issued at check-in - but if you arrive in transit, you won't have this - and with a 6 hour stop-over, it may be several hours before check-in for your onward flight opens. In the end, the lounge staff have always accepted my e-ticket printout or previously printed boarding card, plus my FB card, and have then gone to collect the necessary paperwork themselves, once check-in opens.

- we will be coming from Arusha, either Precision Air or FastJet or maybe even by express bus. As we haven't decided yet.

The airport is also small, so the distances are short - and so overall, transit in DAR has generally been more relaxing than at a larger airport (where you may have to walk for miles, find a transit desk, etc) - but it can be a bit confusing the first time.

- good to know about the distances. Previously, only had one flight into DAR and there wasn't time to visit lounges.

Which flight(s) are you on? Gaining access to the lounge before, say, the KLM flight to AMS shouldn't be a problem - but if you're continuing on a non-SkyTeam operated regional flight, then you're probably not entitled to access (unless flying in J).

- We will be on the KLM flight to AMS.
Thank you!
