Your worst flight that turned out well (or how AA turned a bad day good)

With bad summer storms turning flights upside-down, I was just remembering my worst flight turned good, thought I'd share, and wondered if others would like to do the same:

A couple of years ago, I was flying down to SJU on one of my regular visits to my parents. Bad news, though: a hurricane was heading toward SJU, and it was affecting flights to the island on my date of travel, though not (yet) on my early morning flight.

With a little help from my friends at FT, I decided to hedge my bets and hire 5 Star Service. I figured if everything went wrong, I would have an advocate to wheel me around and help me get on another flight (as I was traveling alone, on my wheelchair). The representative called the car service, then me, a few minutes outside JFK. He met me T8, BP in hand, helped grab the wheelchair out of the trunk, and wheeled me through security and into the AC. He then picked me up and pre-boarded me.

The flight was a bit of a madhouse, as it was the last flight down to the Caribbean for a few days. The later flights to SJU that day were cancelled, and, when we landed, passengers on connecting flights were told that flights to the Lesser Antilles were likewise cancelled. Nonetheless, FAs provided outstanding service in J, from PDBs to catering a full (and stressed out) load to keeping passengers advised of the weather.

I arrived at SJU safely, knowing that AA works smoothly even in the most trying of circumstances, and for this, they have my respect and my loyalty.
