AA.com has really silly rules when it comes to accepting foreign credit cards. Getting AA to accept foreign credit cards is about as easy as asking a supermodel to bed. I can't count how many times I giving up on AA.com and going to a travel agency website to buy the exact same ticket.(for example: Orbitz, Travelocity, etc)

US Airways, on the other hand, takes just about every credit card. (US, foreign, or Klingon) I've NEVER had a problem using my foreign credit card on US Airways' website or airport counter.

What about the "new" AA? Once US and AA fully merge with each other, I assume there will only be just one website remaining.
The new airline is adopting AA's sabre reservation system. So any "issues" you've had with them before will remain most likely.
Honestly if you have a problem booking on AA with a credit card, just call the hotline tell them you can't book online and they'll waive the phone booking fee.
