how many seats do you need? what class of service?

I found the folowing availability: 21DEC LAX -AA-SFO-CX-HKG in F - 1 seat on 3 separate itineraries that day.

30DEC HKG-CX-LAX in F 1 seat avail.

You could easily get from HKG to HKT or CNX by Hong Kong Express or one of the LCC Asia carriers.
