1K traveling on Y award ticket. Flight cancellation so I was added to standby list for another flight and came onto the list at #2. Close in I was pushed back to #9 as expected. I presumed I just had a lot of 1k and GS ahead of me. Not so apparently. The standby list was messed up. I happened to be at the desk when the gate agent cleared the first person on the list (as they should). However, that person had no status (nothing on the BP and boarding w/ group 3). I asked the gate agent why that person had cleared and was told (incorrectly) that the fare class must have been higher. After the flight closed I brought the matter to the Customer Service manager and she said indeed there was something very wrong. FYI - United's polices
