I'll monitor ExpertFlyer for seats, but I'll want a pretty certain expectation AA will allow this before heading to the airport 2 hours early with my wife.
I am not 100% positive that you'll be able to, but I'd guess that you'd be able to because it's issued on AA stock. Haven't done this myself, though.
Have you tried calling the EXP Desk?
