SFO/LAX & YVR all arrive very early morning so connecting to Australia is very easy. You don't even need to go thought customs, just security and back to the International terminal.
I would suggest anyone to look at this flight as an alternative when flying to Australia.
I suppose we're talking about two different things. I was talking about the AC SYD-YVR flight which isn't ideal for connections from NZ.
You're of course right that the schedule of the NZ YVR-AKL flight is much better for connections to both NZ and Australia.
