What type of compensation should I be willing to accept? So far I've been offered a stay at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef in a similar room or an ocean view room at the Ritz. What would you be willing to accept?
I am not certain that any compensation would be due to you, since we don't know whether the hotel contacted you about the renovation or you learned about it from another source.
If the Ritz initiated contact, it was being proactive in advising you about the change, and I doubt that you would be entitled to any compensation, other than perhaps an adjustment in the rate. In any event, I recommend calling the Ritz and asking.
Please keep in mind that this is not equivalent to being "walked" upon arrival, and accordingly I am not certain that any compensation is called for.
Also, did you book the reservation yourself, or is the hotel stay part of an inclusive package? If this is the case, contact the tour operator.
