Agreed on Route 1. I hadn't been in Shinjuku for several years, forgot about the distance, and took N'EX to Shinjuku Station. What a hike.

NishiShinjuku makes much better sense.

However, on the way out, I just took the shuttle bus from the Hilton. It is probably a bit challenging to find when first arriving, but works well on the return.
