I KNOW there are many, MANY hard working FAs who bend over backwards to take care of customers and do "the right thing". Why would they even say this?

In my opinion from hearing the conversation in person, it sounded like the FA was trying to do a favor for a fellow employee and really didn't care about the PAX. Her tone was really more of "why give this seat up to just a passenger" type of thing.
