I doubt the person in question was doing it in hopes of gaining anything. But I suspect that almost any piece of personal information *could* increase the odds of some type of devious activity. (If I gave you my names, I probably increased your ability to steal from me about 1000x) The question is how protective/paranoid do you need to be. It's certainly better not to, but the world doesn't end with it being glimpsed.
