I have a ton of mostly low dollar ($50) Marriott gift cards. I am attempting to consolidate/convert some to a $500 Ritz Carlton gift card as a wedding gift for a good friend. I'm getting totally conflicting information on how to do this and whether it is even possible.

The gift card customer service people - I believe outsourced to a company called Givex - says it's no problem but needs to be done an RC property.

My closest RC - the RC Pentagon City - says I need to go to a Marriott property, have them consolidate the gift cards (which seems bizarre) and then take the consolidated gift card to an RC. She says that they then "might be able to do it."

Does anyone have any experience in anything close to this?
