Have done this flipping type of deal before, when my old grocer, HEB, ran 15% off on gift cards I could flip over to the resellers.
If using Apple, check into using heavily discounted RadioShack cards for buying Apple products at a discount. If in college with a B&N college bookstore, check into heavily discounted B&N cards to buy college books. If looking for clothing or shoes, check into heavily discounted JC Penney gift cards.
