I think the general rule is that bags can be checked starting 4 hours before departure, whether it be domestic or international, and whether or not that 4 hours crosses a calendar day boundary. You may get away with checking it a few hours before that on the same day if the agent doesn't notice or doesn't enforce the rule, but I wouldn't count on 24 hours before like you're asking.
