Cross posting this, but just wanted to let those know that I had the prior version of the US Airways card...the one with no AF the first year with no status.

I called up to cancel today and explained that I wanted to cancel due to the impending merger. Was transferred to a specialist...and I repeated the same spiel to the specialist. They then asked if the annual fee had anything to do with my cancelling and I said it was 1 reason why I was cancelling and the rep offered to waive the AF.

With the companion certificates/club passes/free luggage offering...I couldn't pass it up.
