Wait for the AF to post then try again, they usually don't do fee waivers until it actually posts (although you're more likely to get a point bonus offer instead). If you get a rep that says it's not possible, ask politely if there is anybody else you can speak to. They definitely can waive the AF, but some reps don't have the power. Goodluck!
