The Air Georgian CRJ-100 Experience

I was on one of the new routes that Air Canada awarded to Air Georgian's new old-jet fleet for a transborder flight (YYZ-RDU)t. I was pleasantly surprised - the seats were comfortable and the windows were in a normal place. The interior looked new, like a recent Q-400. The previous Jazz version I was on was cramped and poorly set up. I read that AC made a deal with the parent of Air Georgian so they would have leverage in their dealing with Jazz at contract time. My previous experience with Air Georgian was in a run-down Beech 1900, so I was expecting a low-end experience. Instead, this was as good as I can imagine in this size ac. The downside was that the outgoing flight was in the F-gate Siberia and the return came in the high 200 range of what was I think is E-gateville. In both directions, they used the internal stairs to load and unload, which was a challenge for wheel chairs. In RDU they gave it the normal jetway. I read that the CRJ-100 is no longer economically sensible but apparently Air Georgian has found a way to do it. The pilot said that this plane had been out of service for a while and they took it over and he guessed that it had been renovated.
