AC is one of those companies that sees IT as a pure cost center, lowering costs in that area (which boosts bonuses for everyone) is their #1 priority. No true IT guy (at least the kind you are referring to) would ever take that job under those conditions. Know several people that refused senior jobs there because of the conditions, management and overall mess that working with RES3-based (athena was just lipstick on a pig) legacy systems entail.
