Until OP returns, it is hard to know what he actually meant, but he seemed to argue that the miles-to-segment ratio for each tier was more balanced on AY.
He was possibly misled by the fact that AY tier points are km-based. In miles AY tier thresholds are approx 25k, 56k and 93k, and thus in parity with AA.
Tier points per mile ranges from 0,25 to 2 so in that aspect there is a bit more tight coupling to revenue than in AA qualifying by miles alone, but again, quite a resemblance to the EQP on AA.
There is also a tier bonus on top, making the overall EQP-factor range from 0,25 to 2,5. Ie this program is beneficial to those flying AY in revenue J and holding AY top tier, and not so much for anybody else.
