Okay, so he doesn't see the benefits of having a story to tell, an airport to tick off, added aircraft and operations to log, the chance to see bits of a new city, experience a new hotel, talk to new people, and even getting some airline payola... fine, he might not be one who enjoys either aviation or travel.
I like how you act like those would be the normal responses to this scenario when out of 10,000 people you might find one person who would appreciate those things in a situation like that.
But maybe this could be a new selling point for UA especially at EWR "Sorry, sir, we have cancelled your flight today and the next one isn't until tomorrow. But hey it's a new hotel, a new city, a story to tell! In fact, I feel we're doing you a favour here!"
