Well I transited through London terminal 2 on my way to Dublin (visiting relatives in Wales and it's cheaper to do it that way and get a boat back over that used the vastly overpriced trains).
Anyway, what an absolute joke it was. The plane from YUL was only about 20 minutes late, nothing major. Still had 65 minutes to transit through Heathrow for my connection. 3 lots of security checks between terminal 2 and 1, each manned by 1 person... it took 61 minutes gate to gate and that included running at every opportunity I had and I only made it because they had a discrepancy with numbers because of an overbooking.
Then when I got to Dublin, no sign of luggage. Aer Lingus staff said Heathrow have been having problems getting luggage transferred to the right plane. But rather than report it missing/late, they just send it to it's destination at some point later in the day without notification.
Dublin baggage handlers are furious at the incompetence, Aer Lingus are pissed they have to keep forking out compensation to customers, and mine and others luggage turned up on a flight nearly 5 hours late. People who missed the flight I made in London and got the next one to Dublin didn't get their luggage either, and everyone from Washington was in the same boat. Complete joke of an airport. I've known that for a while, but it really is the pits. Most expensive to fly into in Europe, just shows you there's no bang for your buck.
A warning to anyone here who does need to transit at Heathrow, make sure you leave at least 2 hours for a connection. I have one more flight booked through LHR, it will be my last, my usual preference to fly Rouge via Dublin or mainline to CDG (itself a bad airport) is fully justified, not just on price grounds.
