Don't know about bottles, but cans will be fine as long as you keep them away from your phone charger / other electrical equipment. I once had to hand back a company tablecloth which stank of stale beer after I'd tried to bring back some cans of Paulaner from Freiburg, only for my charger to puncture one.

Fortunately our exhibitions manager is a good sport and saw the funny side.
