Hi pmontanarella,
I had this issue last year when travelling in CW from JFK-LHR on a sleeper service, being aged only 19 at the time. At check-in, the agent phoned through to the CCR and it appeared to be no problem at all for me to head through into there (being waiter service without direct access to alcoholic drinks).
It worked out very well and I was able to dine substantially in good time; I'm sure you could squeeze it into less than an hour but I was perfectly happy to have a long and leisurely supper, having made allowances for any problems getting to JFK.
However, I found out from the CC that some over-zealous member of ground staff had even phoned through to the dispatcher to say I was forbidden from consuming alcoholic drinks aboard the flight! Naturally, the lovely BA CC dismissed all of this as a pile of tosh and served me my pre-departure champagne regardless.
Enjoy your flight.
