I agree, and I think the good news is the execs know this. I have a friend who went to the UAL 787 press unveiling a few years ago, and he told me in no uncertain terms that the (ex-CO) exec told him that "they are aware" the inflight product looks dated already, and excused it on the 787 delays and having ordered the product long ago (a perfectly valid excuse, mind you).

What worries me is that they're packing 48 "old" BF seats up front on the stretched 787-9 this coming year. Where's the fabled new all aisle J product? Certainly not on that plane! And I won't imaging those "new" seats would be ripped out when UAL finally does drop a new IPP in a few years! I.e., get used to it....These are seats designed almost a decade ago (05/06), and it's a shame UAL continues to put them in their newest deliveries. Seems like we have to wait another handful of years for the Airbus...

You know, this delay is reminding me of pmUA dragging out rolling out a new IPP in the 00s...but they had 9/11, SARs, and an active Ch.11 to semi-excuse them. What does Smisek have? Project quality?
