The name of the restaurant always comes out in pinyin and there's never any DCC problem, so I'm assuming they're not using the same terminals as the hotel, but they've always posted 5x spend without me having to call Chase.
Also, I get 15% off my meal and I'm only Silver (which comes with the card). Gold and Platinum get higher discounts. And no, I don't have to be checked in. I've never stayed at that Renaissance before, only eaten there.
I actually have UnionPay stickers left. I can mail you some if you want, just put it on your Discover and make it officially UnionPay... That works for me. People only ask me which bank issues it, but they never say this is not UnionPay...
Is the hotel Renaissance Yu Yuan?
