I haven't checked the T&Cs on this but I'd think you'd have a reasonable case for IDB compensation here if your BP explicitly said gate close at 12.15.
I stand corrected, I have just looked at the specific T&C's and it states the following:

6d) You must arrive at the boarding gate on time
You must be present at the boarding gate not later than the time we give you when you check in. We may decide not to carry you if you fail to arrive at the boarding gate on time.

So if the boarding pass actually stated T-15 and you have proof from an official photo of the gate monitor then you have absolutely won your case.

I'm quite surprised BA do not have a set system around the world for boarding conformance (I can understand security/checkin conformance times being different).
