This will be the key, I think.

If the BP said 1215 and the OP was denied boarding at 1212, it would seem hard for BA to escape from the consequences. But if the BP said 1210 and the OP was denied boarding at 1212 because the gate was closed, then technically the OP probably doesn't have a leg to stand on.
