Especially as the security at CDG tends to be reasonable and polite, and very solicitous towards the elderly, disabled, and families, with special queues and services for them.
It sounds like OP is American, flying 'back' to the US from CDG. In that case, there are sometimes measures for clearing those flights courtesy of the US government which do not apply to the rest of us. I see sometimes US bound travellers being moved to a separate security queue from the rest of us, and they have some more TSA like screening at times (although still quiet and polite, from the looks of it)
The woman in LA is irrelevant to this situation - it was a US, TSA issue.
