We had a great stay. The location was perfect, especially since we did not have a car. We were able to walk everywhere (Cathedral, Alcazaba, Picasso Museum, Malagueta Beach, all the restaurants etc.), and take buses to the Castillo and the beach (when we were too tired to walk). The Hop-on-Hop-off bus was not necessary. We had already been to Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Mijas, so did not have to take those particular day trips, but did take the bus to Nerja for the day. We also took a tour to Ronda (don’t do it with Julia Travel-instead take a train or bus). The rooftop pool was a treat at the end of the day, but closes at 6:00. The air conditioning was very cool-a real plus in Europe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I thought Malaga was a great base for sightseeing. I would definitely stay again. The negatives: getting a wifi code every day, slow elevators, no safe. I don’t consider no coffeemaker a negative, because the 5 star we stayed at in Bilbao did not have one either. FYI, if you’re off to Marbella from here and need a taxi: the taxis are right outside the hotel, and the cost is 60 €.
