Hi all...

A friend of mine got a flight to a few places in Europe for work (from SFO), and found she wasn't able to select her seats (in Economy) until check-in (unless she paid for it).

Is this an across-the-board policy at UAL now? I think I heard BA is also doing that, but I hadn't heard of UAL doing that.

Please excuse me if this is very old news - I searched on the forums here and couldn't find this specific question addressed (tho' it might be buried in hundreds of postings about seat questions).
