Mrs. Singlepoint and I have the option of traveling with our children to one of the aforementioned destinations for a period of three weeks this upcoming summer. Being Plats, we would stay exclusively in Starwood properties (probably using points). Most of the trip reports I've viewed have been for singles or couples (which doesn't quite fit our demographic).

My question is, "In your collective opinions, which cities (listed above) or individual properties using those cities as gateways, would be best for a family consisting of two adults and two children ?" I'd be looking at best upgrade opportunities (think spacious rooms or suites with separate bedrooms etc) coupled with activities for families.

Thanks for any insights; I appreciate it. If I didn't provide enough detail, let me know and I'll try to elaborate.

Cheers and have a safe and enjoyable holiday,

Singlepoint
Another vote for Bangkok here!

We also visit Thailand 1-2 times a year with our 2 kids (currently ages 3 & almost 6) for 3-4 weeks each time, and they always ask me about our next trip! Many things to see and do - 3 weeks sounds about right for a first time visitor. The weather is hot, so, carry bottled water in your back pack when out about. Plenty of 7-11 stores in Bangkok and water can be purchased for as low as 30 cents per cold bottle. stay in the shade as much as you can and wear light clothes and hot/cap.

In addition to your run of the mill Bangkok highlights which I will list quickly here:

- The Grand Palace & the temple of the Emerald Buddha
- Wat Po or temple of the Reclining Buddha
- Wat Arun or temple of the Dawn
- For maximum enjoyment, must take the Orange boat (or the blue one) to have a cheap tour of the river on the way to the above temples.
- Golden teak Vinmanmek Mansion and other palaces at Dusit area.
- The megamalls of central Bangkok: Siam Paragon, CentralWorld, Terminal 21, etc.
- Chatuchak Weekend Market: acres and acres of swap-meet type of shopping - I wouldn't take the kids there due to the heat.
- The many night markets for food & shopping: Lower Sukhumvit, Silom, Saphan Phut, Sukhumvit 38, Chinatown, Huai Khwang, etc.
- In Chinatown, you can also visit temple of the Golden Buddha, but it closes at 5 PM.

there is also plenty for kids to do in Bangkok:

- Dusit Park and Zoo (you can also see Golden teak Vinmanmek Mansion during this visit).
- Safari World -must have a car to drive through.
- Kidzania: allowing children to work in adult jobs and earn currency. At Siam Paragon Megamall.
- Funarium: An all day indoor playground at end of Sukhumvit 26.
- Siam Oceanworld - also at Siam Paragon Megamall.
- Mansion 7: At Ratchadaphisek Road, MRT: Huay Kwang

As for property in Bangkok, go with the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. If you chose to go to a beach city, Hua Hin is a great choice for families with children. Sheraton Has a property at Hua Hin.
