That's the Terraces design. A proper terraces lounge used to have sun loungers, fountains and colourful furniture, although most of these elements have been enhanced away and I don't think any lounge has all of them.

Until recently (when I received galleries furniture) the NCL lounge was probably the best example of a well maintained terraces.

As for TXL, I'll be sad to see it go. For convenience it made LCY seem like Heathrow. The taxi driver can pull up at a departures board by the road to check your gate if necessary and then drop you off right outside where you need to be. For arrivals it's the same level of convenience.

I'd be happy if BER never opened.
